As they position for significant expansion and a potential liquidity event, the organization is seeking a proven financial leader to join the executive team and guide the business through its next phase of operational and capital market maturity.
Position Overview:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serve as a strategic advisor to the Board, investors, and executive leadership. This individual will oversee all financial and capital markets functions, including accounting, FP&A, treasury, investor relations, and risk management. The CFO will play a critical role in shaping corporate strategy, optimizing capital structure, supporting M&A, and preparing the organization for future inflection points including IPO or exit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the financial strategy, forecasting, and long-range planning processes in alignment with business goals and investor expectations.
- Oversee all accounting, audit, and compliance functions to ensure regulatory accuracy and timely reporting.
- Manage capital markets strategy, including debt/equity financing, capital structure optimization, and liquidity planning.
- Serve as executive sponsor for ERP, financial systems, and reporting enhancements across the enterprise.
- Partner with business unit leaders to improve margin profile, cost control, and unit economics across operations.
- Lead all investor communications and serve as the primary point of contact for private equity sponsors, lenders, and prospective capital partners.
- Drive financial due diligence, modeling, and post-merger integration activities for M&A initiatives.
- Hire, mentor, and retain a high-performing finance and accounting team, fostering a performance-driven culture.
- Represent the company with auditors, legal counsel, tax authorities, and other external stakeholders.
Key Qualifications:
- 15+ years of progressive finance experience, including CFO-level roles in the energy sector (E&P, oilfield services, renewables, or midstream).
- Deep capital markets experience, including private equity partnerships, debt issuance, and M&A leadership.
- Strong command of energy economics, reserve-based lending structures, and sector-specific regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated success in scaling finance functions in high-growth or transitional environments.
- CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred; strong technical background and strategic orientation required.
- Proven ability to operate as a business partner and board-facing executive leader.
Competencies:
- Commercially savvy and deeply analytical; able to connect financial data to operational performance.
- Low-ego, high-ownership leadership style with the ability to inspire and mobilize teams.
- Exceptional communication and executive presence; credible with investors, boards, and operational leaders alike.
- Comfortable in fast-paced, capital-intensive, and outcome-driven environments.
