Chief Financial Officer & Controller - Manufacturing

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified financial executive to serve as Chief Financial Officer & Controller. This individual will be responsible for both the strategic financial direction of the company and the execution of day-to-day financial operations. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in financial planning, cost accounting, and internal controls, combined with a practical, hands-on approach to leadership. A CPA designation and prior experience in a manufacturing environment are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Leadership

  • Partner with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute the company's financial strategy.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, long-term financial planning, and scenario modeling to support business growth and capital planning.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities, cost structures, pricing strategies, and key financial initiatives.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Oversee the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, tax, and audit requirements.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.

Accounting Operations

  • Direct all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and cash management.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes with accuracy and timeliness.

Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance

  • Manage all aspects of cost accounting, including bill of materials, inventory valuation, job costing, and variance analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with operations to evaluate plant performance, drive efficiencies, and support margin improvement initiatives.
  • Provide meaningful financial insights to support production planning, procurement, and supply chain functions.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Oversee and optimize finance and accounting systems, including ERP implementation and integration (e.g., SAP, Epicor, NetSuite).
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve data accuracy, and enhance reporting capabilities through automation and technology.

Team Development & Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team.
  • Build organizational capabilities to support company growth and evolving business needs.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including roles with both strategic and operational responsibility.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is required.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, cost accounting, and financial systems.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and executive-level decision support.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial technology implementation.
