Role Overview
The company is searching for a seasoned Senior Construction Estimator. The Senior Estimator will lead the preconstruction and cost estimating functions on multiple commercial construction projects of varying complexity.
Responsibilities include completing estimates, value and cost analysis, bid comparisons, project buyout, and maintaining historical cost data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contact local trades, subcontractors, suppliers, and government offices to verify market conditions, trade practices, and costs.
- Solicit, review, and assess vendor and subcontractor bids for accuracy and budget alignment.
- Analyze manpower and equipment needs for self-perform operations, coordinating with project teams to plan and budget.
- Utilize conceptual estimating skills to identify necessary items for complete systems, even if not outlined in construction documents.
- Stay updated on building methods, market prices, and regulations for accurate and competitive pricing.
- Collaborate with project managers and teams to gather information, refine estimates, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure accurate pricing and terms.
- Ensure estimates are completed on time and meet project deadlines.
- Prepare and present cost estimates and bids to clients, supporting proposals with key pricing justifications.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a construction estimator, with a strong background in commercial construction projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of building materials, construction methodologies, market trends, and regulatory standards.
- Proven ability to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for projects valued between $1M and $100M.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working closely with project managers, construction teams, and subcontractors.
- Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, and contractual documents.
- Knowledge of the Miami, Florida market and local construction regulations is highly desirable.
