Job Title: Chief Engineer

Job Overview:

The Chief Engineer is responsible for managing and overseeing the maintenance and engineering operations by Philadelphia Airport, a hotel with 200+ guest rooms. This position requires a hands-on approach and includes supervising a team of maintenance staff, managing the budget, and ensuring all equipment and systems are operating efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and supervise the maintenance team to ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and on time.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee preventative maintenance programs for all hotel equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Oversee the repair and upkeep of the hotel's physical plant, including building systems, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Manage the maintenance budget, ensure expenses are controlled, and funds are allocated appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, including work orders, equipment logs, and inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as housekeeping and front desk, to ensure maintenance work does not disrupt guest experience.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and standards and work to minimize risks to staff and guests.
  • Hire, train, and supervise a team of maintenance staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the hotel's facilities and equipment to identify potential maintenance issues and address them proactively.
  • Collaborate with outside contractors and vendors to secure bids and oversee the execution of outsourced work.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a maintenance or engineering role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Availability to work weekends and evenings, as needed.
