About the Role

The College is seeking a dynamic Chief Engineer Academic Officer to spearhead innovative and effective leadership within the School of Engineering. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing both academic programming and the overall excellence of the school, while effectively representing its interests to community stakeholders. This position requires an individual with an exceptional academic foundation and strong ties to the engineering sector, particularly in urban contexts, to cultivate partnerships that enhance student outcomes and institutional reputation.

The successful candidate will lead initiatives aimed at developing industry pipelines, ensure the curriculum yields career-ready graduates, and shape the visionary direction of the School of Engineering. A steadfast commitment to the College's mission of providing practical education framed by liberal arts and sciences is essential.

To qualify, applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in an engineering discipline and possess a distinguished record of teaching, research, and service that supports tenure at the full professor level. The Chief Engineer Academic Officer must demonstrate visionary leadership, strategic agility, and fervor for preserving and enhancing the school's esteemed reputation while aligning engineering programs with the College's values-based educational approach.

This role also encompasses a variety of responsibilities including fundraising, engaging with media, and nurturing relationships with industry and professional entities. A profound understanding of how engineering programs operate within a liberal arts and sciences setting is critical, as is the capability to foster a collaborative academic atmosphere. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of leadership in a similar academic capacity with a dedicated focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
