Scottsdale Arts is looking for a dynamic Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead our fundraising efforts with creativity, strategy, and purpose. Here is what you will get to do:Senior Management Functions: 1. Articulate and implement a fundraising vision and strategy that supports Scottsdale Arts' mission and goals in collaboration with the President/CEO and the Strategic Plan, and provide timely revenue forecasts to the President/CEO and CFO
2. Support and advise the President/CEO to engage and leverage their involvement in fundraising fully.
3. Engage Scottsdale Arts Board of Trustees and Advisory Committees in fundraising activities to identify, qualify, and engage prospective donors and sponsors.
4. Establish and manage the division budget and ensure fiscal compliance with regard to expenditures, processing payments, and approving requests.
5. Responsible for communicating and reporting goal results, fiscal operations, and key performance indicators related to appropriate organizational stakeholders, including Senior Leadership, the Board of Trustees, and the City of Scottsdale.
6. Utilize a high level of discretion in the management of the development team, including the oversight of personnel functions within the organizational guidelines. Works across functions with peers, managers, staff, and volunteers to ensure collaboration for shared goals.
7. Works in conjunction with senior management for strategy development and execution planning.
8. Responsible for setting, maintaining, and promoting a positive culture of inclusiveness and performance.
Divisional Functions: 1. Establish and achieve an annual fundraising goal that includes clear objectives for each revenue source.
2. Design, implement, manage, and evaluate a comprehensive fundraising program that includes identifying and cultivating individual major donors, membership programs, sponsorships, grants, planned and annual giving programs, event-based fundraising, endowments, grants, and all fundraising support functions.
3. Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to establish metric-driven expectations and results from development staff.
4. Provides counsel and guidance in fund development principles and best practices to maximize development opportunities and provide training across the organization to help staff understand philanthropy and how to participate in fundraising efforts successfully.
5. Strategically manage the portfolio of major donors and prospects to provide ongoing stewardship and prospect development opportunities.
6. Install appropriate fundraising support processes and systems for managing various campaign data and processes, including donor lists, solicitation scheduling, donor recognition, designated giving plans, and membership enhancement.
7. Participates in and contributes to the development of content for development publications in collaboration with appropriate departments.
8. Oversees special event planning, implementation, and strategies to maximize/optimize events and resources.
9. Create a collaborative team environment based on trust and shared responsibility around fundraising for Scottsdale Arts.
10. Performs other duties as required.

1. Education: A bachelor's degree in a related field; additional education or training in the field is preferred.
2. Experience: Minimum 10-12 years' experience of senior-level development leadership experience with demonstrated ability to achieve departmental/organizational goals and success in directly soliciting and closing individual major gifts at the $100,000+ level.
3. Attributes:
• Proven track record of identifying, cultivating, securing, and stewarding major donor relationships and partnering with high-level Board of Trustees, volunteers, and partners.
• Ability to organize and prioritize the work of a team to meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment with competing demands.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both public speaking and interpersonal dynamics, with the ability to persuade and move people to action.
• Excellent organizational abilities with a strong initiative-driven method of work production.

• Demonstrated ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from a variety of constituents or members of the community.
• Experience managing and overseeing complex budgets
