Relate Search is retained with a high growth Independent Power Producer who is developing, acquiring, and operating electricity generation assets worldwide in their search for a Chief Commercial Officer, US in the Houston, TX area. As a member of the executive leadership team, the CCO will be responsible for leading the company's US energy management activity and the commercial strategy across its portfolio of conventional renewable power assets.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the establishment and growth of the Energy Management and Commercial function in the US, setting a strategic vision aligned with the company's ambitious growth and profitability goals
- Oversee the structuring, negotiation, and execution of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), hedging instruments, and other key commercial deals.
- Contract management, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and monitoring risks
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing Energy Management and Commercial team, ensuring the development of critical competencies in market operations, trading, risk management, and compliance
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in energy management with experience working for an Independent Power Producer
- Experience managing the "three legs" of energy management: front office (deals), middle office (risk analysis), and back office (contract management).
- Enjoys implementing tools and building teams from the ground up
- Experience with batteries and solar assets desirable
- Build and lead a team of 8 (initially)
