We are excited to announce a new opportunity to join our team as a Chemistry Team Leader. You'll be responsible for leading and managing a team of Laboratory Scientists who analyze regulatory drinking water samples from various sources to meet commitments to the Drinking Water Inspectorate. You'll ensure all samples are analyzed and reported in compliance with our Quality Management System and ISO17025 / DWTS accreditation.
You'll investigate, resolve, and proactively prevent data and quality issues through root cause analysis. You'll also drive continuous improvement within your team and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a team of quality analysts involved in complex technical analytical processes and instrumentation.
- Ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements, liaising with HR, QMS, DWI, HSE, Environment Agency, UKAS, and professional bodies.
- Effective resource management to meet the Annual Sampling Plan while balancing reactive workloads.
- Recruiting, inducting, and training staff to ensure competency and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Final sign-off on training records for Laboratory Scientists and Senior Laboratory Scientists.
- Maintaining staff morale, motivation, and engagement, with documented development plans for team members.
- Ensuring a customer-focused, competent team acting as ambassadors for Analytical Services, with ongoing upskilling and training.
Qualifications and experience:
Experience in a regulatory laboratory environment within the Water Industry or similar sectors is required. Supervisory experience and familiarity with ISO quality systems are essential.
