Summary

The New Braunfels Christian Academy teacher is part of a dynamic team who are dedicated to providing our students with exceptional educational experiences that exemplify our mission and core values and service to the glory of God. The teacher develops, plans, and implements lesson plans, learning concepts, and educational programs for students at all levels within subject areas of expertise. The teacher delivers differentiated, in-person instruction based upon each student's needs and experience and delivers frequent feedback to direct the progression of students' learning.


This position requires an educator who is a mature Christian who loves teaching and shepherding children. He or she should be a person who is personable, organized, and committed to providing a caring and engaging learning environment in which students' minds, hearts, and souls are cultivated and nurtured.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Instruction: Planning and Instruction

  • Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.
  • Demonstrates a strong command of chemistry subject matter, curriculum expectations, and student developmental needs.
  • Structures lessons with clear pacing and benchmarks in accordance with academic standards.
  • Assigns coursework, evaluates assignments, and facilitates student presentations to assess comprehension.
  • Differentiates instruction by incorporating a variety of teaching strategies that reflect diverse learning styles, instructional goals, and current educational research.
  • Creates and implements rigorous and relevant instructional strategies to deepen student understanding of chemical principles.
  • Teaches foundational and advanced topics in chemistry, including atomic structure, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, thermochemistry, kinetics, equilibrium, acids and bases, and organic chemistry.
  • Integrates hands-on laboratory experiments and inquiry-based investigations using modern data collection and analysis tools.
  • Leads project-based learning experiences that connect chemistry to real-world applications and cross-disciplinary STEM concepts.
  • Fosters a classroom environment that promotes scientific inquiry, analytical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving.

Assessment:

  • Prepares, administers, and corrects tests, and records results.
  • Uses a variety of informal and formal methods of assessment to measure student learning, growth, and understanding to develop differentiated and enhanced learning experiences and improve future instruction.
  • Presents material/content and purpose correctly in a logical, coherent fashion to support the learning objectives using a variety of instructional aides, teaching techniques, and materials.

Learning Environment:

  • Creates student-centered learning opportunities like engaging discussion or other hands-on activities
  • Establishes clear expectations for classroom rules and procedures early in the year and enforces them consistently and fairly.
  • Formulates and follows a classroom management/discipline plan based on the school's philosophy of discipline.
  • Naturally and regularly integrates biblical principles into their subject.

School Expected Responsibilities:

  • Participate in staff orientation, staff devotionals, staff meetings, and professional development as required by administration.
  • Teaches rules of conduct and maintains order in the classroom and on the playground.
  • Discusses students' academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with parents/guardians.
  • Keeps attendance and grade records as required by school.
  • Routinely posts on Learning Management System (i.e. Google Classroom, Ren Web 1, etc. ) to keep students and parents informed of classroom activities.
  • Participates in the daily functioning of the school (e.g., morning, lunch, and/or afternoon supervisory duties). Supervises extracurricular activities, organizations, and outings as assigned.
  • Participates in the end-of-the-year closing process to include the inventory of textbooks, furniture, and equipment.


Education and/or Experience

Minimum of Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university



Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

State teaching certification. Must acquire temporary ACSI certification within the first year of teaching.
