Job Purpose:
The Cheese Department Manager is responsible for ensuring that all products and services meet both internal standards and external expectations, including legal compliance and customer satisfaction. This role focuses on maintaining consistency, quality, and efficiency in cheese production and distribution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the Cheese Department.
- Coordinate production schedules and ensure timely fulfillment of customer requirements.
- Maintain communication with clients through professional email correspondence.
- Be present during pre-production to coordinate and organize production activities.
- Implement and manage production schedules to meet quality and quantity goals.
- Ensure plant compliance with quality standards and safety regulations.
- Monitor, enforce, and improve the plant's HACCP and GMP programs.
- Maintain and update quality inspection protocols.
- Ensure MSDS knowledge and application is upheld in daily operations.
- Guarantee compliance with federal, state, and local food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Supervise store order processes to deliver optimal service to customers.
- Uphold company policies and procedures to maintain high service standards.
- Assign duties, schedule shifts and breaks, and conduct performance evaluations for department staff.
- Support and train other warehouse supervisors and associates on operational procedures.
- Address customer complaints, resolve discrepancies, and maintain positive client relationships.
- Foster a positive work environment and act as a team builder and leader.
- Communicate performance goals and quality standards to staff.
- Be available to work flexible shifts based on business needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Distribution Center and Operations Manager.
Minimum Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative and manage data entry and warehouse management systems.
- High computer literacy, especially in WMS platforms and MS Office Suite.
- Prior experience in warehouse supervision; wholesale industry experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (read, write, and speak).
Education and Experience:
- Some college-level management coursework preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in warehouse supervision, particularly in food processing environments.
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) required.
Reasoning Ability:
- Must be able to work collaboratively with all levels of staff and management.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.
Work Environment:
- Must be able to work in a distribution center with varying temperature conditions.
