Charge Registered Nurse (Day Shift-FT)

Job Title: Charge Registered Nurse Position Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Charge RN to join our Behavioral Health team. This position is responsible for providing direct patient care in a psychiatric mental health setting, ensuring that all nursing practices comply with professional standards and hospital protocols. Requirement: Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN). Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN). Experience:. Preferred: At least 1-3 years of experience in psychiatric nursing Certifications/Licenses:. Required: Current Florida RN License Required: BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification Required: CPI certification. Preferred: Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing. Professional Development: Maintain required licenses/certifications, including Florida RN License, BLS certification and CPI Certification Complete the Department of Children and Families (DCF) online Baker Act Training modules and indicated on instruction form given upon hire and submit certificates for each Obtain Board Certification as a Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN-BC) if applicable within 1 year of hire if eligible. Key Responsibilities: Patient Assessment and Documentation:. Perform comprehensive assessments of patients on admission and throughout their stay Develop and implement patient-specific treatment plans Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans accordingly Document all patient interactions, treatments, and responses in accordance with hospital policy. Medication Administration:. Administer medications as prescribed, including PRN medications Monitor patients for side effects and effectiveness of medications Ensure accurate documentation of medication administration and patient reactions. Patient Rights and Advocacy:. Treat all patients with dignity and respect, maintaining privacy and confidentiality Ensure patients understand their rights, informed consent, and treatment options Act as a patient advocate and provide non-judgmental, culturally sensitive care. Supervision and Teamwork:. Supervise and provide guidance to support staff, including Mental Health Technicians and other nursing personnel Participate in the orientation and training of new staff members Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to assess and plan patient care. Emergency Response:. Respond appropriately to clinical emergencies, demonstrating strong decision-making under pressure Manage challenging patient behaviors, including de-escalation techniques and maintaining safety in the unit.
