The Change Lead is a new role within the Inventory Management Improvement Programme (IMIP) at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.

The role is primarily based at Yeovil District Hospital, with requirements to work at Musgrove Park Hospital for training and support of the IMIP team as needed.

The key responsibility of the post holder is to support IMIP and clinical colleagues in delivering and implementing an inventory management system (IMS).

You will lead activities such as colleague engagement, scoping, design, process mapping, testing, training, and implementation.

Effective communication and engagement between the IMIP team and clinical service groups are essential, utilizing your knowledge of existing departmental processes to ensure successful integration of the IMS.

Ideally, we seek a candidate with clinical knowledge or change management experience, working at Yeovil District Hospital, with knowledge or experience of departmental processes.

Main duties of the job

The core function involves leading change within a department or theatre to implement Point of Care scanning and integrate an inventory management system. This includes activities like colleague engagement, scoping, process mapping, testing, training, and system implementation.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Practical knowledge of hospital processes, care pathways, and service improvement
  • Educated to HND Business, A level, or equivalent qualification relevant to the role
  • Degree level education with a minimum of 5 years post-registration experience, including or in addition to experience working in a theatre environment
  • Experience of working within an IT Programme or change environment
  • Practical knowledge of Project Management (e.g., PRINCE2) or Change Management (e.g., LEAN/Six Sigma) or equivalent
Experience
  • Experience working in a change environment with multiple stakeholders, securing engagement to deliver change
  • Experience managing business process/change initiatives across an organization
  • Managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Knowledge of ward/theatre or outpatient clinic practices
  • Practical experience of change management and business redesign
  • Knowledge of project planning, implementation, and management using recognized methodologies
  • Experience writing complex reports and business documents for diverse audiences
  • Experience managing budgets and resources effectively
  • Understanding of NHS policies, data protection, and IG Toolkit requirements

This role is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check, as per the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.

The salary ranges from £37,338 to £44,962 per year, with flexible working arrangements and occasional weekend work required.
