Buffalo, NY - Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (JSMBS) seeks an accomplished and collaborative physician leader with a record of significant contributions in academic medicine to serve as its next Chair of Otolaryngology. This physician leader will have the opportunity to expand this department across all mission areas, broaden its impact on the health of the communities throughout Western New York, and build upon the school s national and international impact in education and research. This is an exciting leadership position to advance a comprehensive Otolaryngology program at a medical school experiencing significant growth.

JSMBS is one of six schools at the University at Buffalo (UB) that sits within the Academic Health Center (AHC). In addition to JSMBS, the AHC is comprised of the schools of Dental Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Public Health and Health Professions, and Social Work. For clinical practice, the AHC offers a unique consortium of affiliated teaching hospitals and health care systems to provide a wide range of clinical experience and training opportunities to faculty, staff, and students. The consortium includes: Kaleida Health System, Erie County Medical Center, Great Lakes Health System of Western New York, VA Western New York Healthcare System, Catholic Health System, and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The Chair will report directly to the Dean of JSMBS and Vice President for Health Sciences to oversee the department through operational leadership to advance and grow integrated patient centered clinical programs. They will advance patient centered care, scholarly activity, and clinical research activities while promoting growth of education and service to the community. This leader will attract and retain high-caliber faculty and trainees. The Chair will proactively strategize to enhance viable approaches to enhance access and improve quality of care, safety, patient outcomes, and family experience. They will inspire and motivate faculty to advance career progression and elevate the department's national and regional academic reputation.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding clinician and respected academic leader in Otolaryngology with a track record of building competitive programs, building strong relationships, and maintaining a culture of accountability. This leader will demonstrate the talents to work well with multiple partners and stakeholders. An MD or MD/PhD degree is required as is board certification in Otolaryngology. Active engagement in clinical practice is a requirement. An advanced degree in healthcare or a business-related field is desired. It is expected the candidate will be eligible for academic appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level at JSMBS.
