Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group (LLUFMG) and the Loma Linda University School of Medicine (LLUSOM) are seeking a dynamic and academically driven emergency medicine physician to serve as Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine. This is a unique leadership opportunity to guide a dedicated team of providers who serve a broad and diverse population in Southern California.
As Chair, you will provide strategic direction and oversight for all aspects of the Department of Emergency Medicine, spanning patient care, education, faculty development, and research. This role also encompasses leadership of emergency medicine services across the Loma Linda University Health system. Key areas of focus include optimizing patient access, operational throughput, clinical quality and safety, staffing alignment, and promoting a culture of wellness for both patients and providers.
The ideal candidate will inspire a department-wide commitment to excellence in clinical care, innovative education, and faculty and staff engagement. They will foster a supportive environment for resident and fellow training, as well as professional development for faculty at all levels.
Department Overview:
- Faculty & Staff: Approximately 75 attending physicians and 20 advanced practice providers (APPs)
- Training Programs: A residency program with 16 residents per year and fellowships in EMS, Global Emergency Medicine, Medical Education, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Ultrasound, and a combined Global Health/Ultrasound program
- Patient Volume:
- Over 70,000 adult emergency visits annually
- 53,000 pediatric emergency visits, supported by the region s only Pediatric Emergency Department and Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center
- Nearly 50,000 visits at our Advanced Urgent Care facility
- Designations: One of two Level 1 adult trauma centers in the region, as well as a designated Comprehensive Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center. The only Level 1 Pediatric Emergency Department in the region.
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Oversee departmental operations, quality improvement, and strategic growth
- Support and enhance accredited residency and fellowship programs
- Collaborate with the Dean of the School of Medicine and the President of LLUFMG
- Mentor faculty in clinical, academic, and leadership development
- Champion the department s mission, aligned with the core values of LLUH
Candidate Qualifications:
- Eligible for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level
- Board-certified in Emergency Medicine
- Demonstrated track record of excellence in leadership, clinical care, research, teaching, and mentorship

Compensation & Benefits
Expected Total Annual Compensation: $400,000 - $650,000
