Provide anesthesia care in a variety of surgical specialties including general surgery, orthopedics, trauma, plastics, neurosurgery, pediatrics, endoscopy, NORA, robotic surgery, gynecology, and ENT. Please note that this role excludes hearts, OB, or blocks.
Responsibilities:
- Assess, prepare, and manage patients for anesthesia during the perioperative/procedural period.
- Develop and implement individualized anesthetic plans.
- Perform medical history and physical examinations.
- Obtain informed consent from patients.
- Conduct pre-anesthetic evaluations and post-operative assessments.
- Administer various types of anesthesia, including general, regional, epidural, spinal, IV regional block, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC).
- Perform invasive monitoring and placement of devices such as CVP/CVC, pulmonary artery catheterization, and intra-arterial lines.
- Provide airway management.
Certifications Required:
- BLS certification is necessary.
Trauma and Surgery Details:
- The facility is a trauma level 1 center.
- Surgical procedures in domains such as cardiac, complete orthopedic, complex vascular, head, spine, neuro, OB, pediatric, regional, and thoracic are expected.
Preferred Specialty Skills:
- Expertise in general, spinal, epidural, and regional anesthesia.
- Experience handling obstetrical, neurosurgical, open heart, thoracic, and complex vascular and orthopedic cases.
- Proficiency in pain management techniques, post-op epidural, and extremity blocks.
- Familiarity with epidural steroid procedures for lumbar and cervical regions, transforaminal injections, and x-ray guided block placements.
- Skill in ventilation management.
- Ability to evaluate and manage acute volume and blood pressure issues.
- Competency in central line, arterial line, and PA catheter placement.
- Supervision of CRNA activities.
