Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing for a full-time Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join a school district in Yuma, AZ for the school year. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced professional to work within a supportive, school-based environment, supporting students with diverse needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to students in a school-based setting under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT).
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and families to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs).
- Assist in the development of therapeutic goals and activities for students with various disabilities, including sensory processing issues, motor coordination difficulties, and cognitive challenges.
- Perform evaluations and assessments for students under the supervision of a licensed OT.
- Provide direct interventions in individual and group settings to enhance students' fine motor skills, self-regulation, and overall functional independence.
- Document and maintain accurate records of services provided, student progress, and any relevant changes.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding student services.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding therapy progress and strategies for continued growth.
Qualifications:
- Current certification as a COTA, with licensure recognized by the state of Arizona.
- Experience working with special education students is highly preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively with educational teams, families, and students.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to adapt to varying levels of student needs and therapy techniques.
- A passion for working with children and supporting their educational and developmental goals.
