Occupational Therapist Assistant opportunity to work in an outpatient therapy center focusing on pulmonary rehabilitation.
Enjoys working with elderly patients, has a friendly/helpful demeanor, nurturing the success of the patient to live an improved quality of life, improved ADL's and extend their life while reducing healthcare costs and hospital re-admissions.
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday -9:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m. NO WEEKENDS.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the occupational therapy management of patients
- Completes evaluations to ensure quality standards and addresses ill, injured or elderly people. Focus on gaining mobility and increasing their independence for the well-being of patients
- Work on goals (ADLs), and a plan of treatment
- Teaching of compensatory techniques to permit an individual with a physical impairment or limitation to engage in daily activities
- Evaluating and recording the physical independent abilities
- Encouraging and helping patients create a daily routine
- Helping patients adjust and understand their disability
- Teaching patients techniques on how to use home exercise and therapy to permit an individual with a physical impairment to perform tasks
- Orient therapeutic activities to restore sensory integrative function
- Assess the individual's vocational potential
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program
- CPR certification
- Current BCLS Card (AHA) and maintain.
- Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and medical knowledge to explain the benefits of specific exercises and treatments to their patients
- Critical thinking, complex problem solving, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently
