- Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the State of Alabama
- Must be 18 years of age
- Completion of High School education or GED
- Must speak and understand English
- Patience, tact, enthusiasm and positive attitude toward the elderly
- Ability to Read and Write in English
- Ability to communicate with Residents, families, personnel and support agencies
- Ability to remain calm under stress

Physical and Sensory Qualifications (with or without the aid of Mechanical Devices)
- Must be able to walk, stand, and bend
- Must be able to lift, grasp, push, and pull
- Must have fine hand coordination with or without mechanical devices
- Must have the ability to communicate with Residents, families, personnel, and support agencies
- Must have the ability to remain calm under stress
Administrative Functions
- Complete ADL s on assigned residents daily
- Obtain and record vital signs on assigned residents daily
- Obtain and record weekly/monthly weights as assigned
Daily Care Functions
- Assist residents with basic daily needs such as, bathing, oral care, incontinent/catheter care/bedpans, dressing/undressing, and meals.
- Make rounds at beginning of each shift and every two hours to ensure resident s comfort, privacy and safety.
- Answer call lights promptly to ensure the resident s comfort, privacy and safety
- Ensure proper body alignment of assigned bed bound residents, and turn residents per facility policy to promote resident s comfort and decrease pressure areas
- Promptly report to Charge Nurse any noticeable changes in Resident s condition or mental status
- Assist residents with ambulation /transportation to and from resident dining room, activities and the beauty/barber shop
- Ensure the residents room is kept in a clean and orderly manner
- Ensure water pitchers are always filled with ice and water unless otherwise indicated by resident s care plan
- Promptly report accidents, incidents, unsafe and hazardous conditions and equipment to the Charge Nurse
- Encourage Residents to develop physical skills through participation
- Report to Wing Charge Nurse and perform C.N.A. duties as assigned
Quality Assurance Functions
- Attend appropriate nursing staff meetings.
- Participate in the Quality Assurance Committee and in other sub committees as deemed necessary by the Administrative Staff.
- Follow hand sanitizing, PPE and Universal Precautions guidelines,
- Maintain professional competence through attendance and participation in continuing education programs, seminars, and professional activities and programs.
- Participate in care plans and other committees as deemed necessary.
Residents Rights Functions
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
- Treat Resident s with kindness, dignity and respect.
- Know and comply with Residents Rights.
- Help the residents exercise and/or protect their rights.
- Help ensure that resident complaints are addressed.
- Document report all Resident complaints and grievances according to facility policy.
HIPAA
- Follow and adhere to facility s policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information.
- Protect privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to the resident, employee, residence, facility information and records.
- Use and/or disclose only minimum amount of Protected Health Information necessary to complete assigned tasks.
- Report all suspected violation of company s HIPAA policies or procedures to the Administrator.
Infection Control
- Follow infection control standards, policies and procedures
- Follow hand sanitizing guidelines
Planning and Inventory Functions
- Recommend to Charge Nurse the equipment, material and supply needs
- Make periodic inspections of supplies and equipment to ensure that adequate levels are maintained and that supplies are available.
- Request repairs to equipment as necessary.
Safety Functions
- Knows and follows facility rules.
- Demonstrates proper use of equipment.
- Reports equipment needs or repairs.
- Follows facility smoking policies.
- Reports and documents any incidents or accidents of resident, staff or visitor in accordance with facility policy and procedure.
- Maintains a safe and secure working environment and practices safe working habits.
- Performs duties, which may include transportation of residents, as assigned in Facility Disaster Plan.
Staff Development Functions
- Maintain professional competence through attendance and participation in continuing education programs and seminars.
