Are you a skilled Certified Surgical Technologist? Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, you'll anticipate the needs of surgeons and the healthcare team, ensuring seamless procedures with expert knowledge of anatomy, instrumentation, and equipment. You'll assist in complex surgical cases, develop advanced surgical skills, and contribute to performance improvement initiatives.


Join the WellStar Enterprise Support Team (WEST) in our Float Pool. This exciting opportunity allows you to work across various facilities based on staffing needs, utilizing your unique skills to provide exceptional patient care wherever you're needed most.

Transitional Care Team & Residency (TCT&R) Program: Workforce Engineering's TCT&R Program provides specialized coaching for newly certified team members from the Career Cares Program in high-demand roles such as Lab Support Services, SPD, Surgical, MRI, and RAD Techs.


TCT&R Coaches offer hands-on training, enhancing onboarding and providing valuable resources for both trainees and departments. TCT&R Coaches who are without trainees will be deployed as WEST clinicians to the area of greatest need.

What You'll Do:

Prepare the Operative Suite & Surgical Field:

  • Ensure sterile field maintenance and patient safety.
  • Gather instruments and supplies for surgical procedures.
  • Set up the sterile table with precision and efficiency.

Support Surgical Procedures:

  • Perform surgical counts and participate in procedure time-outs.
  • Anticipate surgeon needs and assist with instrumentation.
  • Maintain an organized back table and sterile technique throughout procedures.
  • Assist in draping, suturing, and applying sterile dressings.
  • Prepare and handle surgical specimens post-procedure.

Ensure Patient Safety & High-Quality Care:

  • Partner with patients to verify procedures and ensure patient-centered care.
  • Follow evidence-based practices and uphold regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.

Contribute to a High-Performing Team:

  • Mentor, train, and precept students and new hires.
  • Stay current with new procedures, technology, and best practices.
  • Assist in room turnover, inventory management, and equipment sterilization.
  • Promote a positive and collaborative work environment.


Qualifications & Requirements:

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED (Required)

  • Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program OR

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with surgical experience


Licenses & Certifications:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Preferred

  • Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) - Accepted

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Accepted

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - Required


Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a surgical setting (Required)


Skills & Competencies:
Strong attention to detail & ability to multitask
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Ability to stay calm under pressure in high-stress situations
Proficiency in surgical procedures & instrumentation
Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
