Position Summary SURVICE Engineering is currently seeking a Cellular Biotechnology Researcher to support our Aberdeen Research Operation. You will accelerate your career and become an integral team member within the defense community. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Sample Preparation: Prepare single-cell samples from various tissue types, including tissues, cells, and biofluids, using a range of techniques, including: 1. Single-cell dissociation and isolation 2. Single-cell NGS library preparation using a variety of platforms Single-Cell Isolation: Operate and maintain single-cell isolation platforms, including microfluidic devices, such as Drop-seq, inDrop, or 10x Genomics, to isolate individual cells. Quality Control: Perform quality control checks on single-cell samples, including: 1. Cell viability and cell counting 2. RNA and DNA quality assessment 3. Cell morphology and cell type identification Library Preparation: Prepare sequencing libraries from single-cell samples, including: 1. RNA-seq library preparation using protocols such as Smart-seq2 or 10x Genomics 2. DNA-seq library preparation using protocols such as whole-genome amplification or tagmentation Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot issues with single-cell sample preparation, including: 1. Cell aggregation or clumping 2. Nucleic acid degradation or contamination 3. Instrument malfunctions or calibration issues Method Development: Assist in the development and optimization of new single-cell sample preparation methods, including: 1. Evaluating new reagents and protocols 2. Optimizing existing protocols for improved yield and quality Collaboration: Work closely with researchers, scientists, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, provide technical support, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality single-cell samples. Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of single-cell sample preparation, including protocols, results, and troubleshooting efforts. Compliance: Adhere to laboratory safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and regulatory requirements, including those related to biohazardous materials and genetic data. Minimum Qualifications of Cellular Biotechnology Researcher Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences and 5+ years of relevant experience. Exceptional candidates with less experience will be considered. Candidates are not required to possess all qualifications; if you possess some of the desired qualifications, please apply. At least 2 years of experience in a molecular biology or cell biology laboratory, with a focus on single-cell techniques Familiarization with the use of analytical instrumentation and processing equipment Proficiency in single-cell isolation techniques, including microfluidics and flow cytometry. Experience with single-cell library preparation methods, including RNA-seq and DNA-seq. Familiarity with quality control techniques, including cell counting, RNA and DNA quality assessment, and cell morphology analysis. Knowledge of programming languages, such as Python or R, is desirable. Experience documenting experimental and analytical procedures, methods, results, and conclusions Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records. Highly organized and able to track multiple projects occurring simultaneously Ability to stand, sit, walk, and lift and move equipment and supplies.
