The successful candidate will:

Work on optimization of transfection and electroporation protocols, perform routine mammalian cell culture work (media prep, cell passaging, scale-up)

Develop and optimize conditions for propagation of various cell cultures including subcloning of cell populations to clones derived from single cell

Sort cellular populations using flow cytometer

Work on establishing process optimization, robustness and executing on late-stage process characterization using bench top bioreactors for the evaluation of medium and processes

Carry out expansion and screening of various cell populations, monitoring expression of target molecules by ELISA and Western blot

Perform hands on execution and documentation of upstream cell culture experiments in the laboratory ranging from small shake flasks to miniature bioreactors

Participate on project teams to develop antibody- and fusion protein-based biologics.

Be highly effective in collaborating with internal and external team members and CRO's and CDMO's

Apply strict attention to detail and adherence to timelines/deliverables

Prepare/present reports to supervisor and project team in a timely manner

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have Master's or PhD degree in biochemistry/cell culture/chemical engineering or relevant biological sciences.

Minimum of 5 years in industry or academia with strong experience in aseptic technique and work with antibiotic-free media.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of transfection methods for mammalian cells, including lipid-based transfection reagents and electroporation

Experience in the use of DHFR and/or GS systems for selection and gene amplification in CHO cells Hands-on work in single cell cloning methods and expansion of colonies from 96 well plates into shake flasks

Experience with the design and execution of batch and fed batch experiments to monitor cell growth and protein expression in deep well plates or shake flasks

Knowledge of flow cytometry methods for analysis and sorting of cells based on protein expression levels Experience with protein analytical and molecular biology methods (gel-electrophoresis, PCR, Western, Elisa etc)

Experience in the development of new techniques or the introduction of novel technology for cell line development would be highly desirable
