CDL-A Truck Driver - Local

The Local Driver Loader, under the direction of the Terminal and Driver Manager, is responsible for all local pickups and deliveries. The LDL is also responsible for load securement to include tarping, chaining, strapping and all inventories regarding securement and the transferred freight and to maintain the yard.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for all local /regional pickups and deliveries.
Check all outbound shipments at the terminal; responsible to load all shipments and ensure they are properly secured, tarped, and strapped. Once the freight is loaded pictures must be taken and sent to Operations.
Inspect all equipment daily; tires, brakes, and trailer defects. Pre-trip all trailers before loading.
Check daily for loads that need to be tarped that need protection from the weather while sitting overnight.
Operate the forklift to transfer cargo; keep certification updated.
Measure dimensions of freight or equipment for Load X and consolidation.
Verify load transfer though shipping and receiving paperwork.
Track load securement equipment.
Reposition trailers in yard as needed.
Responsible for inventory of the yard, trailers and all equipment including chains and binders.
Organize yard; clean as needed to include shoveling, and salting. Restock the trucks and put away the equipment.
Keep shop and floors clean, clear of debris.
Overtime as required during peak times.
Miscellaneous duties assigned by the Terminal.

Position Qualifications

Commercial Driver's License Class A (CDL).
Self-starter, motivated and have the ability to work independently.
Team player; positive attitude.
Safety minded; following rules and regulation.
Effective communication skills.
Attention to detail; must be detailed oriented.

Desired Qualifications

Forklift trained.
Experience in the Flatbed industry.

Physical Requirements:

Climbing steps and/or ladders.
Walking, standing, bending, twisting, pulling, and reaching.
Must be able to lift up to 75lbs unassisted as needed.
Ability to climb on trailers, loads and back of truck for load securement, tarping and measuring.
Will be exposed to weather conditions, including extreme conditions.
Good spatial orientation, depth perception and reaction time.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 45 per week
