2857 - Cardiac Catheterization Technologist (RCIS)
Position Summary: The Cath. Lab Tech performs all routine diagnostic and emergent therapeutic angiographic or catheterization procedures. Assures equipment is functioning properly. Produces and evaluates data, information, and images used by the physician in the performance of the procedure. Assists team members in all aspects of patient care, monitoring patient's vital signs, interpreting status information and performing functioning in one or more of the following: monitor, scrub, or circulating technologist. Educates patients, family members and Cath team. Stock inventory and all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Must be within a 45-minute drive from Tidelands Health Hospital for On Call requirements.
Experience: Prior experience as a Cardiac Catheterization Lab Tech, preferred. Experience with physiological monitoring systems, sterile scrub technique, interventional and diagnostic heart catheterizations, vascular, device implantation, preferred.
Education: Graduate of a program of study leading to credentials as RCES, RCIS, RN, RT(R) or ARRT, ARRT VI with current national registry in applicable discipline.
If RCIS, must be eligible for certification by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) and apply within 60 days of employment. Must meet qualifications for certification as Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and obtain CIS license through SCLLR within 4 months of employment.
Other:
American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (BLS/ACLS) certification required to be initially completed with the GHS Staff Development Office within 30/60 calendar days of hire date (exceptions to obtain certification from a provider other than the GHS Staff Development Office are approved by Staff development on a case-by-case basis). BLS/ACLS Recertification is required every two years.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
