SUMMARY

The Catering Sales Manager ("Gerente de Catering") manages the sale and coordinates all arrangements for individuals having catered events at the resort, following the highest professional standards and promoting the company's sales-focused culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Aggressively solicits prospective customers according to property marketing plan and encourages them to book private-party functions at our property.
  • Meets with clients and proactively helps them to choose specific banquet space and food and beverage for the function.
  • Accurately prepares catering contracts with program arrangements.
  • Organizes account files and keeps a good track of tentative and definite bookings.
  • Courteously welcomes and greets clients at the beginning of each function, and oversees the function to ensure it is being run in a smooth and timely fashion.
  • Runs weekly and monthly pace reports.
  • Maintains an enthusiastic and helpful attitude whenever dealing with a guest.
  • Reports any safety hazards or injuries and makes recommendations to eliminate future liabilities.
  • Obtains permits from fire and health departments to erect displays and exhibits and serve food in rooms other than dining rooms.
  • Directs workers in preparing banquet and convention rooms and erecting displays and exhibits.
  • Inspects rooms and displays for conformance to the needs and desires of the group.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four-year bachelor's degree, two-year associates degree, trade school degree, professional certification or any equivalent.
  • At least 1-2 years of relevant experience and/or training.
  • A combination of experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for either requirement.
  • Experience running shifts, scheduling, performance management, problem-solving, guest servicing and running day-to-day operations.
  • Experience in dealing with the public is preferred, such as retail cashier, food industry service, guest service with public contacts, etc.
  • Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required.
  • Ability to maintain a friendly, team-oriented, positive attitude and a professional appearance at all times.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • The following position will be filled in accordance with the process set forth in California Labor Code Section 2810.8 and San Diego Municipal Code 311.0101 et. seq.

The pay scale posted is the salary or hourly wage range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for the position during the first year of employment. The posted range does NOT include potential additional types of compensation, such as gratuities, service charges, commissions, or bonuses. Actual compensation offered may fluctuate based on qualifications and/or experience.
