Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is hiring a
seasonal full-time Catering Manager based out of New York City. This is a great opportunity for an experienced individual to work with the Event operations team at Van Leeuwen Ice Cream as the company prepares to head into our Peak Season, Spring/Summer. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about operations, enjoys problem solving, and can thrive in a fast-paced environment (and loves ice cream.).
As an Catering Manager, you are involved with event management and execution in New York City, as well as providing support in additional markets across the country. You will be responsible for planning, and executing ice cream truck, cart and other on-site events.
This role will be active from April to mid-September 2025.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Event Management
- Manage all on-site event execution
- Act as the main point of contact for clients day-of, and liaise with internal stakeholders
- Provide excellent customer service
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for customers and employees
- Roll out new menu items to team members
- Assist in creating BEOs with event details in Tripleseat
- Ensure availability of merchandise and services by communicating with vendors, and maintain inventories
- Provide wrap-up reports outline successes and areas to improve
- Ensure all permits and licenses are up to date
Team Management
- Hire, train, and supervise a strong and efficient event operations team
- Schedule sufficient staff for each event and create working schedules according to local labor laws
- Process weekly payroll in a timely and accurate manner
- Order and maintain uniform supply and successfully hold all employees to uniform standards
- Maintain staff job results by coaching, counseling, disciplining, and terminating employees
Vehicle Maintenance
- Responsible for ice cream truck, cart, van and equipment maintenance, including regular check ups, cleaning and repairs
- Schedule and arrange for truck and cart vinyl wraps with third party vendor
- Develop vehicle guidelines and policies, as well as a training program
Communication
- Work directly with our event sales team to review upcoming events on a weekly basis
- Develop and maintain partnership with warehouse, supply chain, and retail leaders
- Work directly with third party partners for vehicle maintenance, vehicle wraps, and other event needs
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years experience in events, food, service industry; food truck experience a plus
- Prior experience managing a team preferred
- Must be comfortable driving ice cream truck in NYC
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and highly organized
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and well under pressure
- Ability to multitask
- NYC DOH Food Handlers license required
- Valid driver's license required

$65,000-$65,000 USD
