Job Summary: We are looking for highly qualified candidates with excellent customer service skills. We take pride in what we serve to our museum visitors and in how we serve food to them. We're looking for candidates to join our Catering Team. Please note: This is a bargaining-unit position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists as needed to maintain the highest level of food quality, presentation, and timing to optimize guests' dining experience.
- Sets up and breaks down catering kitchen as needed with appropriate serving specs.
- Load and unload plates, chafers, and other service equipment.
- Serves courses, breaks down catering kitchen
- Assists in prepping the food, including the use of ovens, fryers, and sauté burners. Helps put together appetizers.
- Helps clean chafers and dishware after events.
- Assists other catering staff as needed to optimize the guests' dining experience.
- Accomplishes all job duties while adhering to all safety guidelines and practices throughout the shift.
- Reports any unsafe condition, unsafe act, accidents and/or injuries to the manager on duty.
- Sweeps, mops and takes out trash at the end of the evening.
Qualifications: - High school diploma required.
- Professional cooking experience in restaurants and catering.
- Appreciate and understand the purpose, and mission of the Museum.
- Quality and service oriented.
- Exhibit professionalism in attire, work habits, and communication.
Uniform Requirements: This position does require maintaining a dress code (including non-slip shoes) and a clean, professional personal appearance.
Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear. Must be able to use your hand to touch, handle and feel in the process of cooking. Must be able to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to lift 10 to 25 lbs. Work Environment: The work environment is a busy kitchen setting. Staff members must handle knives, dishes, and heavy pots and pans, some of which may be hot. The work environment has quiet to moderate noise levels.
