Your Role: Case Manager - Legal Assistant Team Lead (Construction Defect)
As a Case Manager in the Construction Defect group, your responsibilities will include:
Construction Litigation Case Oversight: Managing high-volume, multi-defendant cases involving complex construction defect claims. Oversee timelines for pleadings, discovery, inspections, and expert deadlines.
Legal Document Support: Draft, proof, and organize legal documents such as defect allegations, expert disclosures, indemnity demands, and pre-trial materials.
Team Leadership: Provide day-to-day oversight, training, and mentorship to a team of legal assistants supporting the construction defect team. Ensure adherence to firm processes and case handling standards.
Expert & Client Coordination: Liaise with attorneys, clients, experts (engineers, contractors, architects), and co-defendants to coordinate site inspections, discovery responses, and case strategies.
Discovery Management: Handle voluminous discovery, assist in production tracking, and organize deposition exhibits for construction defect cases.
Compliance & Quality Control: Monitor compliance with state and federal construction litigation rules and maintain accurate and organized case files.
What You Bring to the Construction Defect Team
️ Experience: 10+ years as a Case Manager, Senior Legal Assistant, or Litigation Paralegal in Insurance Defense; OR 5+ years focused specifically in Construction Defect Litigation (preferred).
️ Leadership: Demonstrated experience managing legal support staff and legal operations in a high-volume, fast-paced practice.
️ Knowledge: Familiarity with construction defect litigation, including building codes, defect causation, subcontractor coordination, and expert witness support.
️ Skills:
- Exceptional organizational and case tracking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, case management software (e.g., Aderant, ProLaw, or similar).
- Effective communicator with a proactive, detail-oriented mindset.
️ Education: Bachelor's Degree, Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent work experience in a law firm.
