Job Responsibilities The duties of a Personal Care Worker may include, but are not limited to the following: Provide non-medical care in private or facility settings to the agency's service recipients Be prompt to scheduled visits and notify the supervisor immediately when unable to do so Be familiar with all rules, policies, and procedures in providing the services Submit all required documentation in a timely manner Follow the care plan of the individual service recipient Keep all records and names of service recipients confidential unless authorized by service recipient's written consent Immediately report any incident of injury to service recipient or yourself to the supervisor Report any suspicion of abuse or neglect to appropriate authorities and the supervisor Planning and preparing meals according to specific dietary requirements of the client Maintaining a safe, clean and healthy environment through light housekeeping including changing bed linens, dusting and vacuuming, cleaning kitchen and bathroom, and laundry Providing companionship and stimulation for the client including reading, walks, etc.; and accompanying the client to medical appointments or other activities Assist with ambulation Assist with safe transfers Grocery shopping or other errands when needed Perform other housekeeping tasks as indicated in the care plan Participate in in-service education programs. Read and review care plans before reporting for new assignments If checked, you may be requested to provide transportation to appointments, errands, and activities as needed. Evidence of your current driver's license and proof of vehicular insurance must be provided for your caregiver record at all times. Qualifications A must have a minimum of two years of work experience or equivalent training which is verifiable through references, and must complete the agency's caregiver recruiting and orientation process. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position. Must exhibit mature, responsible behavior, and understand the need for patient confidentiality. Must be able to read, write, understand and speak English. Must be able to follow direction and accurately report to the Case Manager any change in client's condition. Must have available reliable transportation to and from assignments.
