Career Services and Continuing Education Director

The School is seeking a Director for the VanKirk Center for Social Work Career Services & Continuing Education. The Director is responsible for overseeing the development & delivery of Continuing Education & Career Preparation programming for students & alumni. This role includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Continuing Education

  • Coordinate the development & delivery of 8-12 new continuing education program options
  • Analyze trends in the social work job market to identify necessary career services & continuing education programming
  • Identify & connect with faculty, community partners, alumni, & other leaders to develop new program offerings
  • Maintain national accreditation through the Approved Continuing Education program

Career Services

  • Host monthly series highlighting various career paths & providing networking opportunities
  • Develop & host workshops & class presentations on licensure & exam preparation
  • Plan & host the annual social work job fair

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Social Work or related field.
  • LSW or LCSW Licensure
  • 5-7 years' experience in program development & management.
  • Strong understanding of the social work job market & trends.
  • Proven ability to maintain accreditation standards & ensure program quality.

Job Summary

Directs a major career advising unit that includes multiple departments or programs. Provides leadership to academic units; oversees employer recruitment activities; and manages communications, public relations, and promotions for the department. Determines strategy, goals, and policies. Creates and administers the budget.


Essential Functions
  • Plan and coordinate career fair
  • Plan and coordinate career services programming
  • Coordinate and develop Continuing Education programming
  • Host focus groups and listening sessions with stakeholders
  • Maintain accreditation for CE Program

Physical Effort
  • Able to sit at a computer and work for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift things under 20 lbs
  • Typical office tasks
