Empower Youth. Transform Futures. Join Lad Lake.
At Lad Lake, we don't just teach-we guide. As a Career and Life Skills Teacher, you'll be at the heart of a therapeutic, trauma-informed school environment where students are working hard to overcome challenges and rewrite their stories. You'll help equip youth not only for graduation, but for life. From job interviews to budgeting basics, from college dreams to independent living-you'll be their mentor, coach, and champion.
What You'll Do:
Design dynamic lessons in career exploration, financial literacy, independent living, and post-secondary readiness.
Help students discover their strengths and map out goals for employment, college, or trade school.
Teach vital life and job skills-think resume writing, interviewing, workplace etiquette, and more.
Foster critical executive functioning abilities like time management, organization, and decision-making.
Guide students in building personal portfolios to showcase their talents and readiness.
Provide access to real-world experiences (mock interviews, job shadows, projects) that connect learning to life.
Collaborate with educators, therapists, and community partners to support each student's unique path forward.
Model resilience, positive communication, and self-advocacy for students who need it most.
Flexibly teach other subject areas as needed based on student and program needs.
Why You'll Love It Here:
You'll make a tangible difference in the lives of youth who need guidance, structure, and belief.
You'll be part of a mission-driven team that values trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and family-centered support.
You'll work in a collaborative environment where your input, creativity, and heart are not only welcomed-they're essential.
What We're Looking For:
A Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or related field (teaching certification preferred).
Experience working with vulnerable or high-needs youth, especially in alternative or residential settings.
Wisconsin licensure in one or more of the following areas is preferred: Cross-Categorical, Transition Coordinator, EBD, or SLD.
Deep understanding of trauma-informed practices and adolescent development.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
A creative, patient, and structured approach to teaching and mentoring.
A belief in the power of second chances-and the passion to help students achieve them.
Join Lad Lake and become part of something bigger than a classroom.
Become a guide on the journey to healing, hope, and independence.
