Job Description:
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Surgical Services Clinical Director, the Cardiothoracic/Vascular Surgery Coordinator is responsible for cardiothoracic and vascular surgery services management and program development strategies consistent with an interdisciplinary approach to cardiac, chest and vascular patient centered care. The position partners with Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Pre-Admission/Hospital Cardiac Surgery Coordinator, Perfusionist, Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistants, Intensivist, Interventional Cardiologists, Heart Failure Team and other Clinical Staff in the coordination and facilitation of Cardiothoracic/Vascular Surgery Services across the Montage Health System.
The coordinator has advanced clinical skills and knowledge capable of assisting with program design, evaluation, and resource alignment across various patient care services. Provides guidance and oversight in the areas of new staff orientation/training, inclusive of mentorship/preceptorship functions and serves as an expert resource for vascular procedures to General Surgery Services and to the Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
Demonstrates excellence in problem identification/resolution, consensus building, and interpersonal written and verbal communication. The coordinator works in conjunction with appropriate services relative to quality assurance activities and database assessments.
Experience
Minimum of two years of recent experience in the coordination of an Acute Care Hospital Cardiothoracic/Vascular Service with a demonstrated continuous focus on open heart, chest, and vascular surgical procedures required. Displays a strong intraoperative background with clinical capabilities, skills, and knowledge in the various cardiothoracic/vascular procedures, as well as Echocardiography, IAPB (Intra-aortic Balloon Pump), Impella (Small Ventricular Assistance Device) and ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) methodologies. Previous experience in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab environment beneficial. Must have a strong knowledge of cardiac, chest and vascular procedure products and treatment modalities. Proficient computer knowledge and competence consistent with the applicable skills needed to ensure successful database entry/retrieval and workflow.
Education
Bachelor's degree in nursing or healthcare related degree required.
Must pass orientation and initial competency assessment of the cardiothoracic surgery RN and must complete and pass all annual competencies.
Licensure/Certifications
State of California RN license required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required. ACLS certification must be obtained within 6 months of the date of hire.

Hourly Evening Shift Differential: $5.50
