We are seeking dedicated college students to serve as tutors for local K-5 literacy and 6-8 math. In this role, you will support teachers and students during the school day by reinforcing curriculum concepts and monitoring student progress throughout the year. Your impact will go beyond academics-helping to inspire, empower, and equip the next generation of students to reach their full potential in the classroom and beyond.
What You'll Do - Position Responsibilities:
- Host 1-on-1 or small-groups sessions with students to re-teach skills they didn't grasp for the first time around in whole-group, and/or support a small group of students during the lesson cycle in the classroom.
- Prepare to effectively support students by reviewing and internalizing existing virtual and hard copy academic intervention lesson materials in advance, ensuring you are ready to teach the content in an engaging and effective manner way.
- Build collaborative relationships with school staff to enhance your support of assigned students by collaborating with schools stakeholders, demonstrating high level of professional and academic competence. Participate in common planning periods with teachers and interventionist to report the student progress (e.g., PLCs, grade level team meetings etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:- Eligible for Federal Work Study
- Enrolled at Lamar University as a college student with a 2.5+ GPA
- Have reliable transportation
- Have availability to work 3+ days per week; no more than 20 hours (7:30AM-6:30PM) during the school day (preferred but not required) Personal course schedules will be considered with work hours.
Physical Requirements:- While performing the duties of this job, the Tutor may regularly be required to stand and reach with hands and arms; walk; sit; stoop or kneel; crouch or crawl.
Work Hours:No more than 20 hours per week.
