Job Summary:

The Cardiac Surgery Advanced Practice Provider will serve in a full-time role with 24 x7 coverage in the Operating Room, Cardiopulmonary ICU and Cardiac Surgery Clinic.

Key Responsibilities will include:

First Assist in the operating room on various cardiac surgery cases including: CABG, Valve Repair and Replacement, Aortic repairs, Aortic dissection repairs, Impella placement, ECMO placement, TAVRs.
Proficiency in endoscopic vein harvest.
Cardiac Surgery service On-Call for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Assessment and management of post-op cardiac surgery patients in the ICU and on the stepdown unit.
Ordering and interpreting appropriate labs, tests, exams and procedures for diagnostic purposes.
Daily rounds with multidisciplinary team.
Complete appropriate daily progress notes as well as new patient admissions and consultations.
Pulling chest tubes, pacing wires, IABPs, lines; Placement of central and arterial lines.

As an APP, you will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and a commitment to Upstate's mission, vision, and values, while adhering to all institutional policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
NYS Licensed/Registered NP or PA.
Current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice.
NYS licensed/registered NP or PA required. Have a NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire.
PA or NP with RNFA Certification (or eligible by time of appointment).
AHA CPR-BLS and ACLS Certification required at the time of appointment.
Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Must successfully pass pre-employment and credentialing clearances.
Preferred Qualifications:
OR experience as a Cardiac Surgery First Assist.
Critical Care experience as an APP.
Work Days:

Days, Nights, Rotating Weekends, Rotating Holidays
