Job Description

Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Anesthesiologist or Emergency Medicine Physician with fellowship training in Critical Care medicine and a particular interest/experience in cardiovascular care. The Intensivist service will have night Advanced Practice Provider (APP) coverage, physician leadership coverage and other supportive clinical team members. The Cardiac Surgery practice consists of four surgeons, six PA-Cs and two CRNPs. The Intensivist role will have the responsibility of coordinating all aspects of the dedicated HVICU as it relates to both pre-op and post-op Open Heart Surgery (OHS) patients in addition to those Cardiovascular patients deemed appropriate for this service (VAD, TEVAR, major open vascular, EVAR, IABP patient s, complex TAVR, heart failure, etc.).

We seek candidates with a special interest in both VA and VV ECMO as the Intensivist physicians will help set the governance expectations for the ECMO patients at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health. The Intensivist physicians will work in partnership with physicians at Lancaster General Hospital and the Critical Care Alliance across PENN Medicine to establish pre and post OHS care protocols and pathways.

The qualified candidate may be integrated into the Department of Anesthesiology, Penn Medicine/Lancaster General Health with appointment opportunities within the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

Requirements:

  • Critical Care Medicine Fellowship training is required.
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Critical Care Medicine.
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Anesthesiology considered
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine considered
  • Specialty training in Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology preferred
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Medicine
  • Possess or able to obtain an unrestricted PA Medical License
  • A health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs
