Job Title: Café Assistant Manager The Café Assistant Manager is a vital member of our team, supporting the operations of The Transamerica Pyramid Center Cafe and collaborating closely with the General Manager and Barista Lead. Key Responsibilities: Operational Support - Assist in daily café operations including opening and closing duties, shift management, and task delegation to ensure smooth service.
- Act as the primary point of contact when the General Manager is unavailable, ensuring consistent adherence to service standards.
- Help with catering order execution and event preparation as required.
Team Leadership - Lead by example on the floor by demonstrating exemplary service and efficiency.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to baristas and café staff to enhance their skills.
- Assist in training new employees and ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures.
Customer Experience - Coordinate service flow during peak hours to maintain exceptional guest experiences.
- Address customer concerns promptly with a positive and solution-oriented approach.
- Ensure the café and product displays are clean, organized, and inviting to guests.
Inventory & Ordering - Monitor inventory levels and assist with organization and supply orders in coordination with the General Manager.
- Receive and properly check in inventory deliveries following storage protocols.
Administrative Support - Track labor hours and assist in managing team schedules.
- Contribute to maintaining essential operational documents and checklists.
Quality & Safety - Uphold health and safety standards by conducting regular checks and supporting sanitation routines.
- Ensure all equipment is well-maintained, cleaned, and reported for repairs as necessary.
Qualifications: - 1-2 years of leadership experience in a café, coffee shop, or fast-casual restaurant.
- Strong knowledge of espresso and brewing methods.
- Food Safety Manager Certification or equivalent, with knowledge of food handling regulations.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage customers warmly and lead a team effectively.
- Highly organized, reliable, and proactive with excellent communication abilities.
- Familiarity with POS systems (Square preferred), Microsoft 365, and inventory management processes.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 pounds.
