Job Summary

This role will provide hands-on instruction to students, focusing on CAD design, 3D modeling, and technical drawing principles. The role involves developing and delivering engaging curriculum, teaching advanced design techniques, and preparing students to apply CAD software in professional manufacturing, engineering, and design environments.

Typical Job Functions

As a CAD/3D Modeling Instructor specializing in SolidWorks, your primary responsibilities include teaching students to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings, with a focus on industry standards like GD&T. You will design and deliver engaging curriculum, incorporating advanced SolidWorks tools such as simulations, sheet metal, and surfacing. Responsibilities also include assessing student progress, fostering creativity and problem-solving, and ensuring software and equipment are properly maintained. Additionally, you'll stay updated on CAD advancements, collaborate with industry professionals to align training with workforce needs, and mentor students to prepare them for careers in engineering, design, or manufacturing.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, including advanced features like simulations, sheet metal, and assemblies.
  • Experience in CAD design, 3D modeling, or related fields (e.g., mechanical design, industrial design, engineering).
  • Strong understanding of design principles, technical drawings, and GD&T.
  • Excellent communication, teaching, and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and applications of CAD in manufacturing or engineering.
  • Incumbent must reside in Idaho (Currently CEI doesn't sponsor H-1B Visas)
Additional Desired Qualifications
  • Certification in SolidWorks (e.g., CSWA, CSWP, or CSWE).
  • Prior experience teaching or training in a technical or academic setting.
  • Knowledge of additional CAD or 3D modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion 360, or CATIA).
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • Experience with emerging technologies like 3D printing, product lifecycle management (PLM), or generative design.
  • Strong curriculum development skills and the ability to incorporate real-world projects into coursework.
  • A passion for mentoring and preparing students for careers in design and engineering.
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.

    Onsite work is essential and regular predictable attendance is required. Employees may be required to work at occasional events and handle tasks outside of regular working hours.

    Background Investigations:

    Employment at College of Eastern Idaho will be contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation and may require a credit and/or motor vehicle background investigation depending on the position. Please refer to Policy 225: Background Checks
