Trinity Metro has an immediate opening for a Technician in the small vehicle shop. The incumbent will perform preventive maintenance and repairs on transit buses (under 29 feet long), trucks,
automobiles, and related equipment as well as assist other mechanics with more complex repairs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Repairs transit buses (under 29 feet long), trucks, automobiles and related equipment.
- Lubricates and services all transit vehicles and equipment; uses steam machine to clean
engine compartment. - Inspects, troubleshoots, adjusts and repairs on lighting, electrical, mechanical, air
conditioning components, charging, starting, braking, and other basic systems on all transit vehicles. - Replaces water pumps, generators, switches, tires, air system, steering components,
batteries and other vehicle components; change oil, engine and transmission fluids; change oil filters. - Removes, repairs, and installs engines, transmissions, accessory units, and/or other
components on buses and support equipment; installs and maintains compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles and bus fuel systems. - Assists in rebuilding equipment components and complex vehicle repairs.
- Performs state vehicle inspections.
Other Responsibilities - Understand and respond effectively to passenger concerns during calls
- Assist passengers during road calls
- Change light bulbs and windshield wiper blades, refuel vans
- Fill out paperwork of completed work, input work orders into computer
- Travel to pick up parts
EXPERIENCE One to two years experience servicing, maintaining and repairing motor vehicles, transit buses, heavy equipment, or related equipment.
A Texas Class B CDL driver's license, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment
