The Buyer is responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating the procurement of capital budget equipment and projects, medical/surgical & general supplies, service contracts, and non-stock purchases for their assigned departments. Included in the responsibilities are competitive bidding and negotiation, supplier selection and management, product evaluation and standardization (Value Analysis), adherence to local, state, and Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) laws.
Minimum Education - Bachelors' Degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Work Experience - Four years prior experience in purchasing coupled with working knowledge of supply chain management principles.
- Proven experience with supplier negotiations, selection, management and financial analysis.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities - Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Excel, Word and Internet Explorer.
- Strong knowledge of Value Analysis process.
- Working knowledge of healthcare supplies and equipment desirable.
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of basic computer skills.
