POSITION SUMMARY: The Buyer I is responsible for procuring direct and indirect material, as well as monitoring supply base on deliveries, negotiating cost savings, managing supplier lead times and capacity to support customer needs. This is an experienced-level position with no direct reports that reports to the Director, Supply Chain.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Sources Suppliers by using experience buying indirect services and standard practice category management and research tools.
• Issues requests for quotations.
• Researches, identifies and investigates qualified suppliers.
• Manages supplier performance; expediting as necessary
• Selects products for purchase; coordinates activities with manufacturing and engineering to maintain inventory at planned levels.
• Maintains all procurement records.
• Complies with and documents government regulations, FAR, and Auditable Quotations.
• Participates in lean events that impact both the Department and the organization as a whole.
• Ensures that supplies and materials ordered meet established quality standards. Coordinates with Quality Assurance personnel.
• Assists in maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
• Tracks and resolves purchasing and inventory problems or discrepancies.
• Establishes and maintains professional business relations with vendors.
• Sources Suppliers by using experience buying indirect services and standard practice category management and research tools.
• Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining good communication, coordination, and working relations with Company personnel and management.
• Acts as procurement back up to Senior Procurement Agents on assigned Aircrafts.
• Exercises discretion and independent judgment while performing duties.
• Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or a related field.
• 2+ years of related experience, including prior purchasing, contract negotiation in lieu of degree.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in indoor settings, including office and warehouse/airplane hangar environments which require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines and safety gear.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is regularly required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Light work; exerts up to 20 lbs. occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. frequently. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employees' eyes will be exposed to many hours daily looking at desktop monitor screens.
TRAVEL: Occasional travel may be required (Less than 10%).
