As a leader of the Reinsurance Operations Team, you will be at the forefront of managing all enterprise reinsurance programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provides leadership to a team of direct reports.
• Responsible for staffing, training, work directing, motivating, counseling, and enabling performance of individuals and teams through regular and consistent feedback. Makes compensation recommendations based on performance results.

• Partners with associates to identify and monitor professional growth opportunities as part of their development plan to prepare associates for future opportunities. Manages administration of reinsurance programs to ensure timely and accurate processing.
• Ensures timely completion of premium and claims settlement documentation. Approves premium payment and claims settlement documentation and related payments.
• Manages the preparation of reinsurance settlement calculations and quarterly estimated experience summaries. Communicates results to the reinsurers in accordance with reinsurance agreements.
• Prepares special reports requested by reinsurance clients, Vice President and other management associates.
• Manages the preparation of reinsurance administration documentation for audits by reinsurers.
• Manages the preparation of reinsurance administration supporting information used in collaboration with market segments and corporate financial areas for the preparation of financial statements. Leverages enterprise scale, centralized expertise and best practices to operate efficiently and effectively.
• Analyzes reinsurance processes and programs for accuracy and efficiency. Develops, modifies and recommends improvements to processes and programs as needed.
• Continues the development and implementation of plans to integrate reinsurance administration teams, processes and tools formerly housed in market segments. Manages development and maintenance of reinsurance administration systems
• Ensures reinsurance treaties are accurately interpreted and reflected in the configuration of the Group and Individual (TAI) reinsurance systems, and other ad-hoc "systems" and processes.
• Explores opportunities to consolidate reinsurance systems. Evaluates and implements automation opportunities.
• Manages the development, calculation and configuration of the highly complex and detailed Group reinsurance system operational data and reinsurance specific STRATA data, and all data used in other systems reliant on reinsurance data.
• Ensures a member of the Reinsurance administration team actively participates on each market segment teams to represent the internal and external reinsurance and financial reporting needs. (Group new client implementation team, Individual Product Development Agile team) Actively participates in Reinsurance COE Leadership team to align program administration with strategic objectives
• Ensures reinsurance program design of new or existing programs considers administrative and systems opportunities and constraints. Ensures associates and systems are prepared to administer upon implementation. Qualifications:
• Proven knowledge and the ability to understand, analyze, and manipulate financial data to solve problems and meet client needs.
• Direct management experience and leadership abilities to lead operational team and drive initiatives and results
• Proven Leadership and organizational skills to manage team in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Flexibility and strong organization and planning skills with the ability to manage incoming work, projects and changing priorities.
• Analytical abilities to identify business needs, understand requirements, and implement appropriate processes.
• Process improvement mindset to continuously improve operational processes to reduce cost and defects and improve quality.
• Experience creating policies and procedures, as well as monitoring those procedures. Person must be able to create, not just run something that already exists.
• Experience evaluating, developing, enhancing and maintaining administrative systems.
• Excellent communication skills to establish and maintain relationships with a wide range of people, and communicate timely, appropriate messages to key internal and external partners.
• Customer service mindset to deliver exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications:
• In depth knowledge of reinsurance function and administrative processes.
• Bachelor's Degree Securian Financial believes in hybrid work as an integral part of our culture. Associates get the benefit of working both virtually and in our offices. If you're in a commutable distance (90 minutes) you'll join us 2-3 days each week in our offices to collaborate and build relationships. Our policy allows flexibility for the reality of business and personal schedules. When working in our offices at least two days per week isn't feasible (vacations, illness, travel, etc.), an eight day per month standard is an option.

The estimated base pay range for this job is:
$87,000.00 - $162,000.00
