Summary: Founded by legendary aircraft designer Burt Rutan, Scaled Composites is a 42-year-old aerospace company continually working to push boundaries, prove out ideas, and influence the future. Scaled Composites has an opening for either a Level 2 Business Management Analyst or a Level 3 Business ManagementAnalyst to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.
The
Business Management Analyst collaborates closely with the Project Engineer, Shop Leads, Customers, and Scaled Management to ensure that cost and schedule performance are effectively monitored and achieved. Business Management Analystsare responsible for establishing, maintaining, and reporting on the project's budget, schedule, and overall performance.
Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: - Working closely with Contracts department, during contract award, to fully understand the contracted scope of work to be performed.
- Developing an earned value reporting process in order to meet program requirements.
- Collaborating with the Project Engineer and shop lead in generating and maintaining a schedule with clearly defined milestones; adjusting the budget and schedule to reflect any contractual changes.
- Supporting the Project Engineer in monitoring and negotiating the engineering and shop staffing with regard to the right skills and number of people assigned to the project.
- Providing the Project Engineer and Management with a health visibility report at established intervals as required or requested.
- Verifying (check and balance system) that the technical requirements of the contract are being fulfilled, and if not discuss with the Project Engineer and Management, as required.
- Advising and assisting the Program Business Analysts, as needed.
- Managing resources for the implementation of project-related activities.
- Excellent planning skills to include the ability to anticipate and prepare for challenges and obstacles.
- Improvising and re-baselining, as needed.
- Tracking all expenditures, materials, subcontracts, etc., as requested by Management or required by contract.
Basic Qualifications for Business Management Analyst Level 2: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and 2+ years of experience in program/project control, financial analysis, or business management within a technical or aerospace/defense environment or, 1 year of experience with a masters.
- Working knowledge of program cost control tools (e.g., Earned Value Management Systems, Primavera, MS Project, or similar tools).
- Demonstrated ability to track and report on budget, schedule, and performance metrics for small to mid-sized projects.
- Experience collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and business operations teams to support project execution.
- Familiarity with contract types (e.g., Firm Fixed Price, Cost Plus) and funding structures.
- Proficiency in Excel, data analysis, and reporting (pivot tables, lookups, etc.).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing project documentation and deliverables.
- Ability to communicate project status and risks clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications for Business Management Analyst Level 3: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and 4+ years of experience in managing financial and schedule performance of complex programs in a technical or aerospace/defense environment or, 3 years of experience with a masters
- Proven track record of leading cost, schedule, and performance management activities across multiple concurrent programs or high-value efforts.
- Expertise in Earned Value Management (EVM), including variance analysis, forecasting, and Integrated Baseline Reviews (IBRs).
- Advanced understanding of program lifecycle management, risk mitigation strategies, and resource planning.
- Skilled in developing executive-level reports, dashboards, and briefings.
- Ability to mentor program business analysts or PBMs and lead cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with regulatory/compliance requirements (e.g., FAR/DFARS, DCMA audits).
- Strong leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working in an SAP environment.
- Ability to see the whole picture and understand what it will take to complete a project within cost and schedule.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills and ability to implement sound critical thinking skills.
- Ability to implement budgeting concepts.
- Experience with earned value reporting.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
Essential Job Functions:
- Requires mobility and the ability to bend and reach
- May infrequently require lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Manual dexterity and coordination are required; repetitive hand motion (e.g., to operate computer keyboard)
- Vision at close distances and the ability to adjust focus for prolonged periods (i.e., computer screen)

- Occasional exposure to chemical vapors and/or fumes in low non-hazardous concentration
