Job Title: Business Intelligence Architect/Developer

Project Overview: The
Colorado Department of Education (CDE) is seeking a
Business Intelligence Architect/Developer to assist in improving the processes and code used by the Accountability Division in generating
District and State Performance Framework (DPF and SPF) reports. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to review the existing data environment and processes, improve technical workflows, and ensure data processing meets business requirements.
Key Responsibilities: - Code and Data Review:
- Review and analyze current data processes and code for generating SPF reports.
- Identify inefficiencies, inconsistencies, or errors in the data flow and reporting.
- Collaborate with technical teams to assess and improve ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
- Provide recommendations to optimize codebase for performance and report accuracy.
- Business Process Mapping and Documentation:
- Engage with program staff to understand and document the business processes used to generate performance reports.
- Document the business rules associated with the production of reports.
- Create process maps and workflows to identify inefficiencies and propose improvements.
- Requirements Gathering and Documentation:
- Lead sessions with program staff, SMEs, and technical teams to gather and document business and technical requirements.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications for data and reporting systems.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for current and future business processes.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
- Serve as a liaison between business units and technical teams, ensuring effective communication.
- Facilitate meetings with stakeholders to review requirements, share findings, and propose improvements.
- Support communication efforts to align project goals with business objectives.
Required Skills & Experience: - Strong background in data analysis and coding (SQL, Python, R).
- Experience with tools and platforms like Oracle, Toad, Informatica, Tableau.
- Expertise in creating business and technical documentation.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with ETL processes and data warehouse systems.
Preferred Skills: - Experience in business intelligence and data reporting.
- Knowledge of business process mapping and workflow documentation.
Contractor Responsibilities: - Work with CDE's Information Management Services division regarding coding standards and configuration management.
- Ensure all deliverables meet high standards of quality, accuracy, and clarity.
- Respond to requests and inquiries within one business day.
- Maintain work papers and provide documentation to the Department as requested.
