Job Summary
Under occasional supervision, the Business Inclusion & Diversity Coordinator is an administrative position responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating the activities of the city's business inclusion and diversity program. This position requires initiative and knowledge of city-wide and departmental policies and will have contact with federal, state and county agencies, vendors, consultants, and private individuals or interest groups. Reports to the Chief Administrator - Business Diversity.
Essential Functions
• Conduct outreach activities by developing relationships with government agencies, organizations, trade associations and business development groups concerned with minority and disadvantaged business development.
• Work collaboratively and seamlessly with staff to identify new potential stakeholders, small businesses, individuals, prime contractors, subcontractors, community organizations and partners, and other organization partners.
• Determine potential partners relevant to business inclusion and diversity through ongoing research and evaluation and cultivate those prospects that best align with the department's strategic short- and long-term goals.
• Assist in developing plans for expanding the business inclusion and diversity program's presence on a community, local and national platform.
• Coordinate, facilitate and provide staff support for meetings of citizen and business groups as may be required.
• Conduct surveys and collects information relevant to the business inclusion and diversity program's efforts, analyzes findings and prepares and presents report on practical solutions or recommendations.
• Meet with representatives of other public agencies, individuals or groups in the development or promotion of the business inclusion and diversity program's efforts.
• Plan, organize, host programs for business and workforce community in support of the business inclusion and diversity program's initiatives.
• Serve as an ambassador of the mission of business inclusion and diversity program in the interaction with current and potential stakeholders.
• Performs general administrative/office duties as required, including but not limited to conducting and attending meetings, preparing reports and correspondence, copying, and filing documents, maintaining logs, entering computer data, etc.
• Operates a vehicle and a variety of office equipment, such as a computer, printer, audio-visual equipment, calculator, copier, telephone, etc.
• Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals, such as the immediate supervisor, other personnel, volunteers, outside agencies/businesses, community organizations, and the public.
• Performs related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration, or a related field and 3 years of increasingly responsible administrative or planning experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, organizational/planning skills, and proven success in meeting performance goals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications.
• Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish).
• Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Position Requirements/Qualifications

• Ability to organizing meetings, seminars, events to make BID, departmental programs, services, and initiatives known to the community at large.
• Ability to adapt to an evolving and continually improving environment.
• Ability to respond to supervision, guidance and direction of superiors in a positive, receptive manner.
• Ability to demonstrate a polite, helpful and courteous manner when engaged with the public.
• Ability to operate and care for equipment to manufacturer's specifications.
• Ability to demonstrate an understanding, consideration, and respect of cultural, religious, and gender differences when interacting with colleagues and the public. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires light physical effort that may include lifting up to 10 pounds. Work is most commonly performed indoors or in an office environment.
GENERAL BENEFITS:
The City of Miramar provides benefits for its permanent full-time and part-time employees. Benefits will differ dependent upon the job classification and representation, which include union and unrepresented. Vacation
Permanent full-time employees earn up to ten days of vacation during their first year of employment. Accrual begins from the first month of employment, but cannot be used until after the third month of employment.
Permanent part-time employees have the opportunity to earn vacation after the completion of one year of continuous service.
Sick Leave
Permanent full-time employees accrue sick leave at the rate of one day per month. Accrual begins from the first month of employment, but cannot be used until after the third month of employment.
Permanent part-time employees have the opportunity to earn sick leave after the completion of one year of continuous service.
Health Plan
The City currently provides medical coverage through Aetna. The City pays the health insurance premium for the employee and 50% of the premium for dependents.
Permanent full-time employees have the option of electing coverage from three plans: Health Network Only Plan (HMO), High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with HSA and Open Access Managed Choice Plan (POS).
Permanent part-time employees have the option of electing coverage from two plans: Health Network Only Plan (HMO) and the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)
The City also offers Dental coverage through Delta Dental.
Pension (Defined Benefit Plan)
Permanent full-time employees are automatically enrolled in one of the City sponsored pension plans, which are funded by mandatory City and employee contributions. The Plan provides a guaranteed income, based on years of service, to its members upon retirement.
457(b) Plan (Deferred Compensation Plan)
Employees can elect to participate in this Plan, which enables the employee the option of deferring compensation on a pretax basis, not to exceed the applicable limits established by the IRC.
