Overview:

We're proud to partner with a pioneering start-up at the forefront of sustainable metals and additive powder solutions. With a client base that includes Formula 1, IndyCar, and NASCAR, the company is trusted by some of the most performance-driven industries in the world.

As they enter an exciting new growth phase, they're launching a first-of-its-kind digital metals marketplace - connecting metal suppliers with CNC machine shops and other metal buyers across the region.

To help bring this vision to life, they're looking for a hands-on Business Development Manager to drive supplier and customer acquisition across Southern California.

What You'll Do:

  • Build and execute a boots-on-the-ground acquisition strategy for both suppliers (metal distributors) and buyers (CNC machine shops)
  • Own the entire sales cycle: prospecting, pitching, closing, onboarding, and retention
  • Conduct regular in-person visits, demos, and onboarding sessions across the region
  • Act as a trusted partner to suppliers and buyers-helping them navigate and succeed on the platform
  • Collaborate closely with the onboarding and product teams to ensure a smooth customer experience
  • Capture feedback from the field and share insights that drive product and strategy improvements
  • Track sales pipeline, activity, and conversion metrics; report directly to the Head of Commercialization

The Skills and Experience You'll Bring:

  • Proven experience in B2B sales - ideally in the metals, manufacturing, or industrial supply sectors
  • Strong familiarity with CNC machining, metal distribution, or related supply chains
  • A track record of success in early-stage or high-growth environments
  • Experience with CRM tools and the ability to manage pipeline and analytics
  • Ability to travel across Southern California and engage confidently in face-to-face business development

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience launching or scaling a marketplace or software-driven platform
  • Start-up or founder-level experience
  • Knowledge of sustainable materials, additive manufacturing, or supply chain tech
  • Exposure to product development or cross-functional teams
  • An MBA or other advanced degree

What's in it for you:

  • Shape the future of an industry ripe for disruption
  • Attractive compensation with high commission potential
  • Be part of a mission-driven startup from the ground up
  • Clear path for career growth as the company scales
  • Work with a collaborative and ambitious team solving real-world problems
  • Make a direct impact - your efforts will drive real business growth

This role is perfect for a sales professional who loves the challenge of direct business development and wants to play a crucial role in building a marketplace from the ground up. The position requires someone who thrives on direct customer interaction, isn't afraid to knock on doors, and has the determination to build something significant. Must be based in Southern California with ability to travel regularly throughout the region.
