Business Development, Senior Manager

Main Purpose of the Role


We are seeking a highly motivated and commercially driven individual to support the success of our client's growing community base and join our Business Development team. In this role, you will work directly with leading global brands and their licensee partners, playing a crucial part in their consumer product and data-driven strategies, and delivering measurable value to their business.


This role is ideal for someone with a strong commercial background in tech, retail, consumer products licensing, or account management. You will be instrumental in ensuring successful execution, including licensee engagement, sales elements, relationship building, progress reporting, and product catalog creation. This position requires cross-functional collaboration with internal teams and a proactive, problem-solving, and results-oriented approach.


The role demands excellent communication (written and spoken) skills, strong business acumen, and a focus on execution. The ideal candidate will possess robust interpersonal and organizational skills and thrive under pressure. They should be comfortable with multitasking and driven to deliver exceptional customer service and drive customer success.


Responsibilities

  • Manage the regional (North America) Business Development team across the end-to-end customer (licensee) onboarding process, from initial introduction and pitch to maintenance and relationship building (account management), ensuring product information is consistently up-to-date.
  • Lead customer (licensee) calls, meetings, and training sessions to ensure business value is delivered and expectations are met.
  • Drive commercial growth: Identify and pursue opportunities to expand customer relationships and increase revenue through strategic account management and upselling.
  • Client management: Own and nurture relationships with senior stakeholders within our licensor client base.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams (including the technical engineering team) to ensure customers continuously receive value from our client's service while contributing to product and feature improvements.
  • Initiate the creation and improvement of presentations and collateral to enhance service delivery (working with our design function).
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with your assigned customer base through email, calls, and face-to-face meetings to ensure KPIs are met and customers are converted.
  • Perform routine data management tasks to ensure client product catalogs are up-to-date and regularly maintained.
  • Become an expert on our client's service and apply it to your customers' business needs.
  • Understand and stay current with industry trends and the competitive landscape.
  • Generate and close sales with warm leads.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant business experience, with a strong emphasis on commercial roles.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience specifically in licensing, with a proven track record of driving sales or business growth.
  • Experience managing at least one direct report.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience in a sales or revenue-focused role.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of how businesses operate and generate revenue
  • Understanding the dynamics of the marketplace, including competitors, industry trends, and customer needs
  • Analyze business situations, identify opportunities and make sound decisions that contribute to profitability
  • Understanding cost management, pricing strategies, and return on investment
  • Experience in driving sales, increasing revenue, and achieving business targets
  • Strong commercial mindset involves understanding customer needs and delivering value that drives customer satisfaction and loyalty
  • Licensing/retail industry understanding/experience essential.
  • Someone who understands how the licensing industry works from a business and money-making point of view
  • Ability to think strategically, develop business plans, and identify opportunities for growth
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Robust organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude, capable of working independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Comfortable working remotely.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Results-oriented and comfortable with phone, video, email, and in-person communication.
  • Attention to detail with a problem-solving mindset.
