A leading private equity firm is seeking a Business Development Associate to join its dynamic team in Austin. This role involves identifying, evaluating, and sourcing potential investment opportunities, with a focus on creating and maintaining long-term relationships with founders and C-suite executives to build a strong pipeline of investment prospects. The successful candidate will work closely with senior team members, assisting with current deal flow and driving outreach efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and source new investment opportunities in line with the firm's investment strategy.
Leverage a network of industry contacts, intermediaries, and external partners to generate deal flow.
Conduct outreach to potential acquisition targets, including executives, advisors, and other key stakeholders.
Perform comprehensive market research to identify trends, competitive landscapes, and potential growth sectors.
Analyze industry dynamics to uncover attractive investment opportunities and emerging markets.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key industry contacts, including investment banks, brokers, executives, and other deal-sourcing intermediaries.
Represent the firm at industry conferences, networking events, and meetings to enhance deal sourcing.
Track and manage a pipeline of potential investment opportunities, ensuring timely follow-ups and accurate reporting.
Monitor deal progress and collaborate with senior deal teams to support progression from initial sourcing to closing.
Support the execution of strategic initiatives aimed at scaling and optimizing the business development function.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in business development or externally facing roles within financial services, consulting, research, or technology.
Strong understanding of financial modeling, valuation techniques, and investment analysis.
Proven ability to source and identify investment opportunities through networking and industry research.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with senior executives and deal intermediaries.
Highly organized, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with financial modeling and database management tools is a plus.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
