Business Development and Innovation Manager (XN07)
The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS organizations in the UK, renowned for high-quality research and innovation.
We offer an exciting opportunity to join our R&I team as a Business Development and Innovation Manager. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 1 year, funded by current resources.
The role involves contributing to the business development and innovation workplan, managing collaborative projects with Industry and Academia, and supporting the Innovation Pop Up membership initiative.
The post holder will facilitate partnerships, oversee project execution to achieve outputs, and support companies in accessing NHS expertise for product development and innovation adoption.
Responsibilities include account management with national and regional companies, building networks internally within the Trust and externally with universities.

Main Duties
Are you a self-starter with excellent organizational skills and a keen interest in medical product development and innovation?

Would you like to help develop the Trust's innovation culture in preparation for our new Innovation Hub in 2027?
The Trust collaborates with industry and academia to lead research and innovation, aligning resources to foster a more coordinated, commercially-focused environment.
Working closely with the Head of Business Development and Innovation, you will support research activities, develop industry relationships, and manage collaborative projects, ensuring they meet their goals.
A key aspect is assisting companies in leveraging NHS expertise for product development and facilitating high-impact innovation adoption.

Person Specification Skills & Behaviours
- Experience managing complex projects to tight deadlines

- Knowledge of the Life Sciences Industrial Strategy
- Understanding of the NIHR and NHS innovation landscape

Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in biomedical or related field; postgraduate qualification or relevant experience
- PhD in biomedical, clinical, or health research (preferred)
