Business and Process Analyst GRADE: 14Non-Bargaining unit FLSA: ExemptJOB SUMMARY The Business and Process Analyst will be responsible for identifying the areas of improvement in our current business processes, developing and implementing new strategies and technologies, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful adoption of the new procedures. This role will work closely with functional and cross-functional teams as a member of the project management office. They will be responsible for understanding internal and external customer needs, documenting processes, identifying opportunities for process improvement, and assisting with project management. As part of this role, they will work as a liaison between technical and functional staff, assist with the creation of business and technical requirements, work with experts and power users to draft documentation and aids, and support the development and delivery of training.
This position is dependent on the availability of designated transformation or systems project funding and is funded for a minimum of four years.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Identify areas of improvement in our current business processes and develop and implement new strategies and technologies.
- Analyze business processes and information systems and technologies to identify opportunities for improvement that will lead to better efficiency, effectiveness, and security.
- Engage with functional experts and cross-functional teams in documenting current and future state processes, policies, and procedures.
- Communicate with shareholders and stakeholders to ensure alignment on proposed changes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process changes, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to operations.
- Assist project leaders with the identification, documentation, and mitigation of project risks.
- Use software, tools, reporting, and analytics to assess performance and efficiency, and to benchmark process improvements.
- Assist team leaders with the implementation of project management tools and processes.
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of implemented process changes, measuring key performance indicators and making necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.
- Translate business requirements to technical requirements when working with programmers and application vendors.
- Assist with testing strategy, development of test plans, coordination of testing cycles, and managing issue documentation.
- Work with power users and programmers to create and update documentation and training.
- Assist with the execution of training strategy and coordination of the use of the vendor training portal.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree in business, finance, computer science, information systems, or related field. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience as a business analyst, process analyst, financial analyst, project manager, or technical product manager.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience working on a Workday implementation
- Professional work experience in a higher education environment.
- Experience working with a variety of project management or product development processes (plan-driven, waterfall, agile).
- Working knowledge of a variety programming, software, and systems environments.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES - Proven experience conducting business and process analysis in complex cross-functional operating environments.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, study and interpret complex data.
- Demonstrated ability to work creatively to adjust to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines with a commitment to teamwork, innovation and excellence.
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint or comparable software tools.
- Functional understanding of business processes, enterprise software, and other integrated business and information systems
- Functional understanding of programing and software configuration, although specific coding skills are not required.
- Highly motivated and self-directed, with a commitment to collaboration.
- Evidence of strong critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience of building cross-functional relationships.
- Ability to manage and perform multiple complex tasks as part of the daily work assignment
- Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate process changes and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
Location and Funding: This position can be based on any of the Vermont State Colleges System campuses. Occasional travel within Vermont or other locations may be required. If hybrid, the incumbent must reside within a U.S State that the Vermont State Colleges System is registered to do business in. This position is dependent on the availability of designated transformation or systems project funding. The position is funded for a minimum of four years.
The successful candidate will locate in Vermont. Some remote work from home possible.
Physical Requirements: Duties performed cause slight fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties as a result of repetitive motion and/or long periods of standing or sitting. Duties require little physical effort in work with light to moderate (up to 25lbs) easy-to-handle materials. Duties will occasionally require the climbing of ladders.
Working Conditions: Job is performed in a general office or comparable working area with many and frequent distractions such as noise and interruptions. Work schedule may vary during high volume periods.
