Business Analyst Intern Smart Data Solutions, a leading provider of data management, claim routing and workflow solutions to health plans and TPAs, is looking for Business Analyst Interns to join our team this summer.
The Business Process and System Analyst plays a crucial role in analyzing, designing, and optimizing business processes and system functionalities for Smart Data Solutions Product implementation and support. This role bridges the gap between business needs, product capabilities, and end-user requirements to enhance operational efficiency, improve product testing and product delivery and drive automation. The analyst will work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to understand business workflows, identify pain points, gather requirements, and support system implementations, upgrades, and optimizations.
What you'll be doing?Business Process Analysis & Optimization: - Assess and document existing business processes, workflows, and system capabilities.
- Identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements, automation opportunities, and best practices.
- Design and implement new workflows that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Conduct impact assessments for proposed process or system changes.
- Perform analysis of how customers are using the product
Requirement Gathering & Stakeholder Collaboration - Work closely with customers, engineers and product managers to gather and define business and functional requirements.
- Translate business needs into detailed system specifications, use cases, and process flows.
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and understanding.
System Analysis & Implementation Support - Analyze system functionalities and ensure alignment with business processes.
- Assist in data migration, validation, and quality assurance efforts.
- Develop test cases, conduct user acceptance testing (UAT), and support go-live activities.
Data & Reporting Analysis - Work with reporting tools and databases to generate insights from system data.
- Develop dashboards and reports to support decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with healthcare data privacy regulations.
Training & Continuous Improvement - Provide documentation, training, and support to end-users on new system features and process changes.
- Monitor system performance and user feedback to drive continuous improvement.
- Stay updated on healthcare technology trends, regulatory updates, and industry best practice
What we're looking for? Required skills:
Education and Experience - Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in healthcare administration, information systems, business analysis, or a related field.
- Ability to analyze data and metrics to drive strategic decisions and process improvements.
- Coursework or projects in business analysis, data analytics, or related fields
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies is a bonus
Skills & Knowledge - Analytical & Problem-solving Skills - Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
- Technical Skills - Familiarity with tools like Excel, SQL, Tableau and Power BI.
- Communication Skills - Strong written and verbal communication to present findings and collaborate with teams.
- Project Management - Ability to manage tasks, work with stakeholders, and support business initiatives
Location: This position is open in our Eagan, MN or Dallas, TX office. This is a hybrid role with requirements of 3 day in-office per week.
