Job Summary:

Working closely with the Business Product Owner you will act as a liaison between technical staff and business. Coordinate with users and consultants to determine and document business and user requirements, process flow definitions, and functional specifications. Responsible for document repositories, maintenance, and updates of project documentation library. Assists project team with gaining business user acceptance. Reviews progress and evaluates results for accuracy and efficiency.


The Business Analyst works with the Product Owner to conduct discovery and analysis of features and functionality of a digital platform. The practitioner works closely with other functions-including design, user experience, and technology-to discover, analyze, and document current-state knowledge, feature gaps, and potential solutions. They also collaborate with the Project Manager and Product Owner to define, prioritize, and plan the product and development Roadmap.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with management and individual team leaders by contributing strategic vision and integrating a broad range of ideas regarding business solutions development.
  • Assists with project plans and coordinates resources to accomplish project tasks.
  • Conducts business processes and systems analysis while considering the business implications to the current and future business environment.
  • Assists with deliverables, cost, schedule, and quality of one or more enterprise solutions projects.
  • Reviews progress and evaluates results for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Works with internal and external customers, suppliers, and other partners to resolve problems, respond to suggestions for improvement and enhancements, test, refine, and institutionalize solutions.
  • Drives the project(s) and the organization toward achieving business results.

Key Activities:

  • Conduct functional analysis for target features of digital platform
  • Analyze current and target platform features and functionality
  • Research functional and technical systems and processes to discover key gaps to enable functionality
  • Develop recommendations to resolve any functionality gaps
  • Facilitate scoping and estimation sessions within Scrum Teams
  • Work with Scrum Teams to enumerate functional and technical Tasks required to enable features and functionality
  • Facilitate story and task-creation with Scrum Team
  • Assist in maintaining User Story Backlog to support Scrum Team
  • Decompose features and functionality into well-formed User Stories to enable cross-functional communication
  • Document findings in an accessible and organized manner
  • Ensure User Stories contain all necessary information and data
  • Maintain Backlog platform and tools (e.g. JIRA)
  • Ensure that Backlog is current and well-groomed

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, Business Administration or similar area of study
  • Preferred: Masters degree in computer science, MIS, Business Administration or similar area of study

Work Experience:

Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:

  • Effective communicator with the ability to lead and influence others
  • QA testing, business analyst methodologies, system design and analysis
  • Training skills
  • Proficient in Jira, Confluence, Agile methodologies, incl. Scrum
